Burners: Direct Heating

CarSIK-G burner tubes have been used successfully for many years by almost all of the main furnace constructors worldwide in gas- and oil-fired industrial kilns (e.g. pulse-type and recuperative burners), and in household burners. An increasing degree of automation is making greater demands on ceramic burner components. Through direct communication with constructors and end users, Schunk can develop solutions specific to each individual customer up to the production stage.

Burners: Indirect Heating

The process of indirect heating, using radiant and flames tubes, transfers heat by radiation. Moreover, the combustion gases are not permitted to come into contact with the ware being fired. Our CarSIK grade therefore fully satisfies the extreme demands made on material for radiant tube applications.

  • No porosity, therefore excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance
  • Very good thermal shock resistance
  • Gas tight
  • Stability of shape up to the maximum operating temperature (high degree of creep resistance, no bending of tubes in service meaning much reduced maintenance)
  • Very good thermal conductivity (increased radiative heat transfer)
  • Low mass
  • High degree of reliability and economy in service
  • Optimum efficiency

Kiln Furniture

Beams, Profiles, Posts

Process modifications are introducing a wide range of possible applications for construction elements in the form of beams and profiles. The result of this has been a more efficient use of the available kiln space and a saving in energy due to a reduction in the thermal mass.

Typical applications for this product are support elements and posts for kiln cars superstructures, beams for two-channel kilns, joining systems for roof insulation as well as complete transport carriages.

The appropriate beam cross-sections are determined according to individual specific loading conditions.

Batts, plate-setters and lavi-setters

Process modifications implementing an increased degree of automation and aimed at realizing energy savings are introducing a wide range of potential applications to technical SiC ceramics in various market segments. Their use allows a reduction in thermal mass and a more efficient use of available space. CarSic kiln furniture has excellent stability of shape and is a material of choice for fast firing applications (e.g. tableware production). Its proven reliability in service owes much to its high thermal conductivity and high strength.

Oxide ceramics

The family of oxide ceramic includes: aluminum oxide, mullite, magnesium oxide and zircon oxide. These are characterized by a high degree of purity, chemical resistance and excellent temperature stability.

Insulation Plates

Useful alternative to asbestus products normally used in electric insulation in high temperatures (Train contactors, passenger and cargo wagons…), our product material for insulation plates is silicon carbide, in its different qualities, which resists thermically to the electric sparking, offering a really good insulation.
